In the coming week, I will be traveling to several remote and simple villages to document what life is really like in one of the coldest inhabited regions on Earth, where temperatures during my stay can drop as low as −53°C (−63°F).
During this journey, I hunt for food, cut and collect massive blocks of ice, heat homes in extreme conditions, and run fascinating experiments in the brutal cold.
This video took an incredible amount of effort to make. I first flew to Yakutsk, one of the coldest cities in the world. From there, I endured an 18-hour drive to Suntar, and then continued even deeper into isolated areas, far from modern civilization.
For seven days, I explored the Suntar region in Yakutia (northern Siberia, Russia). I immersed myself in the daily lives of the people who survive here, learning how they adapt to extreme cold, hunting in subzero temperatures, and conducting unique experiments to see how nature behaves in such harsh conditions.
One of the most remarkable parts of this journey was visiting a man who has been living completely alone in his own hut for over 40 years, deep in the Siberian wilderness, entirely cut off from the modern world.
