Ashanti Regional Minister settles GH₵1m suit between Yaw Dabo & Oboy Siki

Yaw Dabo and Oboy Siki Resolve GH₵1M Defamation Dispute Following Dr. Frank Amoakohene’s Mediation

Yaw Dabo, Dr Frank Amoakohene, Only Siki

Actors Yaw Dabo and Oboy Siki have officially reached an out-of-court agreement, bringing a swift end to their recent legal clash. Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene successfully mediated the dispute, resulting in Oboy Siki publicly retracting his statements and issuing a formal apology for his previous derogatory remarks.

Origins of the Legal Battle

The conflict was sparked by a controversial interview Oboy Siki granted to Ghpage. During the segment, he made several damaging allegations against Yaw Dabo, including:

  • Criticizing Dabo’s competence in football management.
  • Making invasive claims about Dabo’s private life, specifically alleging that he suffered from infertility.
  • Falsely accusing Dabo of disrespecting President John Dramani Mahama.

In response to these claims, Yaw Dabo filed a defamation lawsuit seeking GH₵1 million in compensation. The legal proceedings kicked off at the Kumasi High Court on February 23, 2026, with several Kumawood actors—including Sumsum Ahuofe—present to witness the event. The judge subsequently adjourned the case to allow the two parties to explore an amicable resolution.

The Apology and Out-of-Court Resolution

Within two days of the court appearance, the Ashanti Regional Minister stepped in to broker peace. Following a private meeting with Dr. Amoakohene, Yaw Dabo agreed to drop all charges.

Oboy Siki completely withdrew his accusations, admitting to bloggers outside the court that his comments were baseless and fueled by a desire to spark online drama, rather than facts. He issued an unreserved apology for the harm caused, praised Dabo’s football academy, and clarified that he had never actually heard Dabo insult the President.

The reconciliation was finalized when Oboy Siki approached Yaw Dabo for a handshake to seek his forgiveness. Dabo publicly confirmed that, out of respect for the Regional Minister and other prominent figures who reached out to him, he had completely forgiven his colleague and put the matter to rest.
