The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George has revealed that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s official SIM card has been deactivated despite it being re-registered.

Sam George in parliament proceedings on June 7, 2023 revealed that, over 8 million unregistered SIM cards has been deactivated by the various telecommunication firms after the May 31 deadline announced by the government for the registration exercise.

According to him, his official SIM card and that of the Speaker of Parliament has been disconnected even though it was re-registered in the name of the Parliament of Ghana.

Sam George disclosed that, the livelihood of the individuals has been affected including their monies stuck on their deactivated SIM cards.

“The National Identification Authority has failed to issues any Ghanaian citizens a Ghana card in any district NIA office since December 2022 and it is the fault of the stubborn academy that they’ve not been able to register their SIM cards”, he added.
